Terms of Use

By using Illinois Busted Mugshots, you agree to these terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the site and its search tools.

Illinois Busted Mugshots is privately operated and has no affiliation with a government office, sheriff, jail, or corrections department. The site and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit, employment, insurance, or tenant-screening decisions. This is a public-record reference service, not a private investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency.

Purpose and Limits

This is a private reference site with no government ties. It does not hold official arrest or custody files, confirm a person’s status, arrange a release, or file papers with a court or agency.

Its Illinois pages explain where arrest and booking-photo resources are kept and point readers to county sources, state systems, and outside search tools. Requests for public-body records are governed by the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, with exemptions set by law. This private site is not a public body subject to FOIA requests.

Acceptable Use

  • Use the site in a way that follows the law.
  • Do not use information to stalk, harass, threaten, or harm another person.
  • Do not use site content for decisions covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • Do not try to enter systems or accounts without permission.
  • Do not run bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against the site.
  • Do not disrupt access or interfere with other visitors.

No Consumer Reports

Neither Illinois Busted Mugshots nor its advertising partners is a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). We do not prepare background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports, and our content may not be used for any FCRA-covered purpose, including:

  • Hiring, firing, or other employment decisions.
  • Housing or tenant-screening decisions.
  • Credit decisions or insurance rates.
  • Licensing, permits, or eligibility for a government program.
  • Any other use regulated by the FCRA.

Illinois’s Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, including 815 ILCS 505/2QQQ, restricts payment demands by covered publishers to remove, correct, or modify certain criminal-record information. The statute has a defined scope and exclusions; these terms do not change those limits.

Links to Other Services

Links may lead to county jail rosters, sheriff and corrections pages, courts, government portals, Illinois county sites, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Those providers control their own content, privacy practices, and availability. Review their terms before using them; a link does not mean this site endorses the provider.

No Warranty

Site content and tools are provided "as is." We do not promise that they will be:

  • Accurate, complete, or up to date.
  • Available without interruption.
  • Free of errors, defects, or security weaknesses.
  • Matched to every record a partner search might return.

Custody details and public records can change at any time. Nothing on this site is an official statement from an Illinois sheriff, jail, court, or government agency.

Limits on Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Illinois Busted Mugshots and the people who operate it are not liable for losses or damages that result from using, or being unable to use, this site or its linked services.

Your Responsibility

If a claim or expense arises from your use of the site or your violation of these terms, you agree to protect the site and its operators from that claim, including reasonable legal fees where the law permits.

Ownership of Site Material

Text, graphics, logos, and code on Illinois Busted Mugshots belong to the site or its content partners. Do not copy, distribute, or change that material without written permission from its owner.
