Why We Built This Resource
Illinois arrest records sit with different public bodies. A county sheriff or jail creates booking records and may run a roster or booking feed. IDOC’s search covers people in state prison custody, not every person recently arrested in a county. Courts keep the case records that show what happened after an arrest.
Those systems answer different questions, and their public pages vary by county. This site brings the statewide landscape together, explains where county and state records fit, and links readers to the relevant official search pages. It stores no government files and displays no mugshot collection of its own.
What Readers Can Find
Illinois coverage is organized around the record holder and the kind of information being sought:
- The statewide arrest and booking-record overview, including how county rosters and feeds differ.
- A County Directory that links to Illinois county coverage.
- Separate information about statewide wanted notices, Illinois mugshot law, and historical arrest records.
- Instructions for the official IDOC offender search and its state-prison photographs.
Limits of This Site
Illinois Busted Mugshots is privately operated. It is not part of a sheriff’s office, county jail, IDOC, or any other government agency, and it has no official custody records. The site cannot:
- Confirm whether a person is in custody or arrange a release or transfer.
- Post bond, set up a visit, or send funds for someone.
- Provide legal advice or speak for a court or agency.
An arrest entry records an accusation, not a finding of guilt. Charges can change or be dismissed, and this site cannot verify a person’s current status or final case outcome.
Search Partners
Some search boxes on this site are operated by outside providers, which set their own prices and decide what their tools return. If a visitor follows a partner link and signs up for a paid service, this site may receive a referral fee. That support helps keep the reference pages available at no charge, but it does not give us control over a partner’s prices, records, or search results.
