Illinois Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm whether someone is in custody, provide or remove an official booking photo, post bond, or retrieve a government record. Those tasks belong to the agency or court that holds the record.
Where to Check in Illinois
Illinois arrest and custody records are held by different agencies. Start with the county where the arrest took place, then use the state or federal system that matches the person’s custody status. A booking record is not a court disposition, and an arrest alone does not establish guilt.
- County arrest or booking record: use the County Directory to reach the relevant county coverage and its listed sheriff or jail source. Each county manages its own roster, feed, and records-request process.
- Case outcome or court file: the Illinois Courts county map identifies the circuit court and clerk for the county. Some counties also use Judici; its search covers participating courts, not every Illinois case.
- State-prison custody and photos: search the official IDOC Individual in Custody Search. For state corrections records, use the IDOC FOIA page, which lists current request instructions.
- Illinois conviction history: the Illinois State Police criminal-history page explains the public conviction-information service. It is not a county booking-photo search.
- Older government records: check the Illinois State Archives holdings and the Illinois Regional Archives Depository system. The record series and date range help identify the right collection.
- Federal custody: use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator for sentenced federal prisoners or the ICE detainee locator for immigration custody. The BOP locator does not provide mugshot photos.
- Custody-change alerts: the Illinois Attorney General’s VINE information page explains the notification service. It is an alert tool, not a public booking-photo feed.
